On the 11th and 13th of March 2014 Wickham Laboratories exhibited at STEM fair held at two local colleges. The key objective of the event was to show students that science, technology, engineering and maths are fun and play an important role in all people’s lives.
Small groups of pupils aged 9 to 16, supervised by their teachers while getting hands-on experience from a variety of prospective employers, were able to obtain information about the disciplines of interest and find out what to do to pursue a career in science and technology-related industry.
Visitors coming to see Wickham Laboratories’ stand had an opportunity to learn about bacteria living on human skin, dangerous microorganisms causing serious diseases and infections as well as test their skills in pipetting.
The fair attracted around 800 students coming from Fareham, Gosport, Portsmouth and Emsworth - based schools and turned out to be a great initiative in terms of delegates’ engagement and the diversity of companies that attended the event.
